About
Founder, Palmer Thompson-Moss has loved building for as long as he can remember. He became a facile woodworker at a young age, and learned carpentry while helping his uncle restore old houses in the Boston area. In 1998, he moved to New York City to work in a furniture shop, and later enrolled at Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture, which led him to Rome. There he developed a deep historical knowledge of architecture and a fascination with the Bauhaus and the Modern design canon. Palmer returned with a B. Arch and went to work with some of New York City’s top architecture firms, which gave him the opportunity to engage with all types of small-scale projects from design to completion.
In 2010, Palmer founded GDT on the insight that intelligent design and quality construction improves the social and built environment. Today GDT builds and restores residential and commercial projects throughout NYC and Maine.
